Q&A – How the Awards Work

We’ve put together a list of handy Q&A regarding the awards nominations, judging process and ceremony. You should find the answers to any questions below. If after reading through you still have a query please contact us via the Contact Page.

How do you nominate a business for the awards?

To nominate a business please click on the Nominate tab on the navigation bar, or on the Nominate Now button on the homepage. When nominations close the tab and button will be removed

I've been nominated! What happens next?

We will be in contact with you to get a few more details then we’ll send you an Entry Form to fill in. If we’ve already got your email address from past year’s nominations you’ll hear from us soon. If we haven’t got your email address and you’re on Facebook it’s likely we’ll contact you via Facebook Message so do please look out for any contact from us. Once the form has been submitted to us you will be officially entered into the awards.

Who can I nominate?

Any businesses located within the Ribble Valley can be nominated

How many businesses can I nominate?

Please nominate as many businesses as you like, the more the merrier! To nominate again, just refresh / reload the Nomination page after nominating.

When do 2021 nominations open and close?

Nominations for 2021 open on Thursday 7 January and close at midnight on Thursday 4 February. The deadline for receiving entry forms is Sunday 7 February.

I live outside of the Ribble Valley, can I nominate a business?

Yes, of course. Nominations can be made by anyone.

How are the entries judged and shortlisted?

Our core panel of judges from across the Ribble Valley will read through all entry forms and decide, collectively, on who should be shortlisted. For each award, the judging panel will also include the sponsor.

When will the shortlisted businesses / finalists be announced?

The shortlisted businesses / finalists for each category will be announced via social media in mid February.

How are the winners decided?

A designated Judgement Day will see the judges meet with each sponsor throughout the day to discuss and debate the winner of each category. This information will remain Top Secret until winners are revealed at the awards ceremony.

When does the ceremony take place?

The 2021 Ribble Valley Business Awards ceremony will take place on Thursday 25 March, either virtually on Facebook Live due to Covid-19 restrictions, or at Stirk House.

If the ceremony is virtual how do we attend?

If we run RVBA2021 virtually the awards will be pre-filmed and premiered on Facebook Live at 6pm on Thursday 25 March. Please follow us on Facebook for more information and to view the ceremony. Access our Facebook page by clicking here.

How do we buy tickets for a live in-person Awards Ceremony?

Ticket booking will open once the finalists are announced. Businesses shortlisted for an award automatically get allocated one free ticket to the ceremony. They are then given the option to purchase more if they wish. Priority is given to finalists and sponsors. There may be the option for the general public to attend if the event is not sold out but this is not guaranteed. To buy tickets (once available) please email rob@enterprisingpeople.co.uk 

What time will the awards ceremony start?

For our live ceremony, the doors and bar will normally open at 5.30pm. The meal will be served from 6.30pm and the awards will be presented between 8pm and 10pm. The final award to be presented will be the Beacon Award.
