The Ribble Valley Business Awards celebrate the businesses and individuals that make the Ribble Valley such a wonderful place to live, work and visit. Scroll down to meet our sponsors and view the Award Categories. Beacon Award

 

Every business will be entered into this award. The Beacon Award winner will be a local business that is, in the opinion of the judging panel, the best entry across all categories. The winning business will be a beacon of inspiration for us all. This award is not sponsored.

 

Artisan Business

 

The winner of this award will be, in the opinion of the judging panel, the best artisan or craft business nominated this year. This category includes businesses and creative individuals who demonstrate and apply their skill, ranging from food products to music, craft drinks to art etc, but they must use traditional methods or craft by hand. This award is open to any artisan business, regardless of size or how long it has been trading. This award is sponsored by The Grand.

 

B2B Business

 

The winner of this award will be, in the opinion of the judging panel, the best business that mainly works with other businesses (80% or more of their turnover will be from other businesses) that has been nominated this year. This award is sponsored by lovelocalnetworking.

 

Community Business

 

The winner of this award will be a nominated Ribble Valley based not for profit business or social enterprise that has, in the opinion of the judging panel, implemented and used innovative practices and approaches to meet community and public service objectives in the last year. This award is sponsored by Community Futures.

 

Creative Business

 

The winner of this award will be the most creative business based in Ribble Valley. This award is open to any creative business, regardless of how long it has been trading. This award is sponsored by the Printed Cup Company.

 

Customer Friendly Business

 

The winner of this award will be, in the opinion of the judges, the most customer friendly Ribble Valley business nominated this year. We will only accept nominations from customers of the business for this award. This award is sponsored by Clitheroe Chamber.

 

Food Business

 

The winner of this award will be, in the opinion of the judges, the best food-based business in Ribble Valley nominated this year. This award is sponsored by Napthens Solicitors.

 

Independent Retailer

 

The winner of this award will be the best Ribble Valley independent retailer nominated this year, in the opinion of the judging panel. This award is open for any independent retailers who operate traditional retail outlet(s) or sell directly to the consumer (via direct mail, farmers markets, etc.) and/or retail online. This award is sponsored by FS Accountants.

 

Innovation

 

The winner of this award will be a nominated Ribble Valley business that, in the opinion of the judges, has been the most innovative over the last 12 months. The award is open to all business types. This award is sponsored by DSM Chartered Accountants.

 

Medium to Large Business

 

The winner of this award will be, in the opinion of the judging panel, the most successful and sustainable Ribble Valley based medium to large business nominated this year. Open to businesses with 20 or more employees. This award is sponsored by Forbes Solicitors.

 

Micro Business

 

The winner of this award will be, in the opinion of the judging panel, the most successful and sustainable Ribble Valley based microbusiness nominated this year. Open to businesses with between 2 and 5 employees. This award is sponsored by Whalley Chamber.

 

New Business

 

The winner of this award will be a new Ribble Valley based business (started trading since April 1st 2016) that, in the opinion of the judging panel, has been the most successful start-up. This award is sponsored by Silverwoods Waste Management Ltd.

 

Pride of Ribble Valley

 

The winner of this award will be the individual or group that is the Pride of Ribble Valley, in the opinion of the judging panel. They will have engaged in an activity (this might be an event, bringing together a local group to respond to a crisis, fundraising, a campaign etc) that has made an outstanding contribution to making the Ribble Valley a better place to live, work or visit. This award is sponsored by Enterprising People.

 

Rural Business

 

The winner of this award will be, in the opinion of the judges, the best rural business in Ribble Valley nominated this year. This award is sponsored by Ribble Valley Borough Council.

 

Small Business

 

The winner of this award will be, in the opinion of the judging panel, the most successful and sustainable Ribble Valley based small business nominated this year. Open to businesses with between 6 and 19 employees. This award is sponsored by Harrison Drury.

 

Sole Trader

 

The winner of this award will be, in the opinion of the judging panel, the most successful and sustainable Ribble Valley business with 1 employee (the owner) nominated this year. Their business will have traded for 2 or more years. This award is sponsored by Boundless Networks.

 

Tourism

 

The winner of this award will be a Ribble Valley based attraction, business or event associated with the tourism, hospitality or leisure sector that has, in the opinion of the judging panel, made an outstanding contribution to Ribble Valley’s visitor economy in the last year. This award is sponsored by Evans Accountants.
