All nominated businesses have been invited to enter the awards. The deadline for online entry is midnight Sunday 6 February. Shortlisting will then take place. Finalists will be announced on 24 February on our Facebook page and will be posted on this News Page too. Watch this space!

As you may know, the founder and organiser of RVBA, Rob Carder is retiring. On behalf of the whole team, I’d like to thank Rob for doing such a brilliant job on the Ribble Valley Business Awards over the last 7 years, he really does leave a fantastic legacy behind him.

I am proud to be taking over as awards organiser and am looking forward to my new role, and to delivering our 2022 ceremony in March. It will be our first full awards ceremony since 2019, and it’s been too long! We will be updating the website over the next couple of months and getting it ready for 2022 as well as getting all our 2021 winners photos on here.

You will have noticed that we are not offering this category for Ribble Valley Business Awards 2021. We feel that one Pride of Ribble Valley award would just not be enough to capture the contribution to the community of so many enterprising individuals, groups, clubs and societies throughout the Covid pandemic. There needs to be a much bigger thank you to them.

The team reflected that perhaps we have not been able to do full justice down the years to those who tirelessly volunteer year in year out across the borough – mainly because we are primarily about celebrating the achievements of our business community. We hope that someone else will hear the call and introduce a Ribble Valley-wide Community Service Awards with multiple recognition categories to properly celebrate their work and achievements.

Nominations for the Ribble Valley Business Awards 2021 are now open. While we recognise that the past year has not been the easiest of years in which to trade, we’ve seen incredible flexibility, tenacity, adaptability and resilience shown by our business community, which we believe is worth highlighting and celebrating. Our focus in this year’s entries will be very much on how businesses have responded to the challenges that the pandemic has brought and we would encourage everyone to enter and share their stories and experiences.

You’ll notice we’ve simplified the nomination process somewhat. All nominated businesses will be entered in the Beacon Award (the overall award) the businesses themselves will then choose which other award categories to enter via the entry form. This now includes the Customer Friendly Business Award which was previously by secondary nomination only. Please see our homepage for the list of award categories and sponsors.

You’ll be able to nominate your favourite businesses until midnight on Thursday 4 February. Shortlisting will commence the week after. The awards ceremony will take place on Thursday 24 March. Given the current restrictions, the ceremony is likely to be held virtually on Facebook Live although we do still have this date reserved with Stirk House just in case we can all gather together.

The organising team know how heavily impacted many of our businesses in the Ribble Valley have been, both personally and on a business footing by Covid19. We also know how incredibly resilient and adaptive businesses have been too, and the amount of support and collaboration that has happened across the valley.

During the first lockdown we took the decision to delay Ribble Valley Business Awards until the first quarter of 2021, in the hope that things would have returned to near normal. As we write this we are in another lockdown in November, with the prospect of restrictions continuing until at least after Easter. A vaccine is on the horizon, which is good news, but we suspect it will be well into the second half of 2021 before there is any potential for mass gatherings such as the Ribble Valley Business Awards ceremony.

In the meantime, we have been delivering business awards competitions elsewhere with a virtual ceremony, and we have learned how to make those celebrations work and work well. We are going ahead with Ribble Valley Business Awards 2021 on the basis of nominations opening early January with a virtual ceremony on Facebook Live (at the very least)  on Thursday March 24th – we still have this date reserved with Stirk House just in case we can all gather together.

We are very much looking forward to celebrating our business community as we are hopefully coming out of these less than ideal times. Our focus will be very much on how businesses have responded to the challenges that the pandemic has brought and we would encourage everyone to enter and share their stories and experiences.
